Poland is one of the larger European countries, conveniently situated in the middle of the continent and at the crossroads of important transit routes; it has a good access to the Baltic Sea. These conditions enhance the development of Poland’s economy, trade and all sorts of international relations.

Poland is a country of mixed cultures and numerous attractions. One can find everything here: alpine style landscape, wide beaches, clean lakes, deep forests and world-class historic monuments. Everything is here to meet expectations of the most demanding guest: interesting museums, modern art galleries and concert halls, swimming pools, equestrian clubs, discos and night clubs. Poland’s natural environment makes sport activities available thorough the  whole year. In many regions of Poland there are natural sites preserved in their primeval state rarely encountered in other parts of Europe. The numerous activities as well as the unique facilities definitely make Poland a country worth considering for your visit.

Poland for nature lovers
Nature lovers will certainly enjoy the golden beaches of the Baltic Sea coast in the north and the rocky peaks of the Tatra Mountains in the south. Water sports fans will love the Great Masurian Lakes and hikers will feel happy on the Bieszczady trails, amidst the wilderness of that green mountain range. They may encounter a bison, the Europe’s biggest animal, living in its natural habitat that occupies a part of the Białowieża primeval forest; enjoy pleasures of photo-safari in the unique Biebrza River Marshes or the thrilling experience of rafting through the Dunajec Gorge. Keen hikers can venture a climb to the tops of shifting sand dunes in the Słowiński National Park.

Poland for history lovers
The dedicated history and historical mementoes fans are welcome to visit carefully restored complexes of old Polish cities, including the royal castles in Warsaw and  Cracow, Poland’s former capital, which survived the Second World War intact. They will enjoy touring old residences remembering the bygone times and visiting numerous museums, including the fascinating underground galleries of the medieval salt mine in Wieliczka, or the biographical museum of  the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus in the old bishops’ residence in Frombork.

In the homeland of the pianists Chopin and Penderecki, the enthusiasts of arts will find a rich calendar of cultural events. The highlights of Polish music seasons are the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in Warsaw,  the Cracow Jewish Culture Festival, Warsaw Autumn – International Festival of Contemporary Music, JVC Jazz Festival, Picnic Country – International Country Music Festival, the worldwide known Chopin International Piano Competition and numerous art and folklore youth festivals and meetings.

„The easiest way to someone's heart is through his stomach” as the old Polish saying goes…

So if you believe that tasting regional specialties is a good way of getting to know the nation’s culture, then eating out in Poland is the best choice you can make. Sample the delicious roast duck with apples, or various kinds of pierogi (dumplings, stuffed with fresh cabbage and wild mushrooms, meat, cottage cheese or blueberries) and be tempted by a rich selection of soups. Do not leave without trying the country’s specialties – meads and vodkas ranging from Żubrówka (bison grass vodka) to Krupnik (made with honey and often mulled before serving). The regional snacks are also worth to try. Gingerbreads from Toruń, the plums in chocolate from Nałęczów and highlander smoked cheese called "oscypek" as well as Polish sausage. Entering a Polish home you will be greeted with warm hospitality and a sumptuous meal.

2010 Chopin year
200 years ago Fryderyk Chopin, one of the greatest artists in the history of Polish culture, the most distinguished Polish composer, as well as a leading pianist and representative of the music of the Romantic period in the world,  was born in Poland in Żelazowa Wola. Recognising the special importance of his artistic output for the Polish and global heritage, Polish Parliament herby proclaims 2010 as the Year of Fryderyk Chopin. During 12 months Poland and the rest part of the world will hold dozen of events dedicated to his music.

Poland's presidence in The Council of European Union
From 1 July 2011 Poland will hold Presidency in The Council of the European Union. It is responsible for the EU meetings organization, sets the Union's political direction and ensures its development, integration and security. During  184 days - that is how long it will take to hold the Presidency of  the European Union Council  in Poland will take place: 150 meetings attended by European politicians, 4416 hours  for negotiating  and resolving problems, 264960 minutes  for the reinforcement of the EU's global position due to the Polish Presidency.

UEFA EURO 2012 ™
In June 2012 Poland together with Ukraine will host one of the most important sporting event all over the world – 2012 UEFA European Football Championships.
UEFA EURO 2012 ™ is on the horizon and offers Poles the chance to show the country at its very best. Understanding the importance of such a prestigious event, Poland is improving its infrastructure and building new roads, hotels and congress centers. The tournament will allow us to enhance Poland’s position on the meetings industry map. Organizers and sport fans won't be disappointed!
